Super Bowl LVII

It’s a wrap … what a game!!!

The Super Bowl is the most-watched sporting event in North America. And 2023 topped the charts. The previous high was Patriots vs Seahawks with 114.4 million viewers in 2015, as the Pats brought home a nail-biting 28-24 win. To be fair, though, Nielsen added out of home viewers in bars and restaurants to their audience measurements in 2020, and this year Fox lifted the paywall for the Super Bowl, allowing anyone with an internet connection to watch the game on the Fox Sports app and Fox Now.

This year we saw 2 Black quarterbacks face off for the first time in history, and brothers Travis and Jason Kelce play against each other.

Rivals Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes faced off against each other on Sunday

The Kelce brothers wore different jerseys at Super Bowl LVII

A female-only team of aviators conducted a flyover during the National Anthem to celebrate 50 years of women flying for the Navy.

A team of female-only aviators performed a fly-over during the National Anthem at Super Bowl LVII on Sunday. The Navy was the first branch of the U.S. military to welcome female aviators in 1974. Today women make up just 12% of all Navy pilots

And 34 year old billionaire Rihanna performed at halftime (for free, as is always the case for Super Bowl performers) -- her first gig since 2016 -- taking the opportunity to reveal an unexpected guest: a baby bump.

A surprise to all, Rihanna was visibly pregnant at Super Bowl LVII

The State Farm Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona, crammed in 67,827 fans who were lucky enough to see the Kansas City Chiefs become NFL Champions for the second time in 4 years. The Chiefs trailed for much of the game and were 27-21 down heading into the final quarter, with superstar Patrick Mahomes seen limping.

Patrick Mahomes overcame severe ankle pain from a previous sprain to deliver the goods on Sunday

But just when it had to, everything changed … culminating in a game-winning field goal with 8 seconds remaining to bring home a 38-35 win.

The winning field goal in Sunday’s Super Bowl was set up with a 26 yard run by Patrick Mahomes and delivered by Harrison Butker with only 8 seconds to spare

Some people called the Chiefs’ offensive line “human turnstiles” after the Buccaneers demolished the team 31-9 in 2021. But now the Chiefs have shown that their 31-20 Super Bowl win against the 49ers in 2020 was not just a fluke.

What more can be said? Nothing, that’s why we all love sports. When it all comes together at the last minute like it did on Sunday, it is truly a joyous occasion.
